SWIM LESSONS
Brooke Perkins-Aquatics Coordinator
In all YMCA programs our goal is to develop a child’s spirit, mind and body. We accomplish this through…
• Building self-esteem
• Parent education
• Promoting the YMCA’s core values (caring, honesty, respect and responsibility)
• Water adjustment
• Basic stroke development
• Aquatic safety instruction
• Physical activity and endurance
• Peer interaction
Certified YMCA instructors are dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment. This is achieved through sharing, modeling, encouraging, teaching, challenging and supporting each child.
See Class Level description below.
Sessions run year round!!

PARENT/CHILD SWIM LESSONS
(Ages 6 – 36 months)
Ski & Perch
The primary objective of these levels is to get both the parent and the child comfortable in the water. The child will explore a new environment while the parent will learn how to teach their child to be safe in and around the water. The child will be exposed to games that use basic movements in the water such as kicking, arm strokes and breath control. Children should be registered by age. A parent or adult 16 years or older must be in the water with the child for these classes.
